EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Purple Aces women’s volleyball team will look to finish the home schedule on a high note as they wrap up that portion of their schedule this weekend as Bradley and UNI come to town.
Friday’s match versus Bradley is slated to begin at 7 p.m. while the contest against UNI on Saturday will start at 5 p.m. Saturday’s game will also mark senior night as the duo of
Jessica Knackmuhs and
Hannah Wilson will be honored prior to the game.
Last weekend, the Aces fell by a 3-1 margin to Southern Illinois. Wilson was UE’s top player as she collected 13 kills and 11 digs.
Ashley Ring finished with ten kills to increase her team-leading total to 339 on the season.
The Aces have played much better at home in MVC play as they are 3-4 at the Carson Center and 0-7 on the road. Most of the home losses have been hard-fought contests as the matches against the Salukis and Shockers could have gone the Aces way with a few breaks going their way.
Bradley comes to town holding a 9-17 overall record while going 3-12 in the Valley. Since starting the league schedule with an 0-8 mark, the Braves have rebounded to go 3-4 in their last seven outings. Madelyn Ervin is second in the league with 0.37 aces per set while Lauren Zerante is eighth, averaging 4.56 digs per set.
Northern Iowa is looking to grab another MVC championships, posting a 21-8 mark thus far while going 12-3 in the MVC. The Panthers are the top offensive team in the league, leading the Valley in kills (14.49/set) and assists (13.37/set). They also get the job done defensively as their 17.82 digs leads the way in the conference.
Following the final weekend of home action, Evansville will be back on the road next weekend, facing Indiana State on Friday before completing the season at Illinois State on Saturday evening.
