EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville women’s swimming and diving team will travel to Carbondale, Ill., this weekend to close out the 2011-12 season at the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championships, hosted by Southern Illinois. The first round of preliminary heats is set to begin Thursday morning. The meet will wrap up with the last round of final heats on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
 
In the Pre-Championship Poll, Evansville was picked to finished fourth, ahead of Northern Iowa. Defending champion Missouri State was picked as the unanimous favorite.
 
During the 2011-12 regular season, the Aces were awarded six Athlete of the Week selections, tying with Southern Illinois for the most selections on the year. Swimmers Alex Howard, Michelle Tipton and Caroline Lee each notched a weekly award while diver Sadie Wells racked up three Diver of the Week titles.
 
The Aces finished the regular season with a 5-6 overall record, including dual wins over Butler, Eastern Illinois and Vanderbilt.
