EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Belmont Invitational will mark the next event for the Purple Aces women’s golf team as they will travel to Nashville for the tournament set for Monday and Tuesday.
Evansville is one of seven schools participating, joining Austin Peay, Belmont, Lipscomb, Tennessee Tech, Trevecca and UAB. Eighteen holes will be played each day at Old Hickory Country Club with a par of 71 and yardage of 6,044.
Monday’s action begins with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. while the final round on Tuesday is set for a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.
The ladies are coming off of a second-place outing at the Butler Invitational. Freshman
Cathy Doyle finished second overall to lead the Aces, who finished three shots ahead of Eastern Washington to finish behind only the host Bulldogs.
Doyle led after the opening round of action, but came up two shots short of medalist Michele Nash of Butler.
Lauren Ellerman and
Sydney Skiles came back with top 20 finishes while
Alyssa Key came in 21
st place.
After the trip to Nashville, the women have just two more spring tournaments remaining. Evansville will travel to the Indiana Invitational on April 14 before heading north to Terre Haute for the State Farm MVC Championship on April 23 and 24.
