4/13/2012 10:53:00 AM

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – After the University of Evansville men’s golf team put up a 5th place finish last week at IU, the Aces women’s team will take its turn, playing in the IU Invitational set to take place on Saturday and Sunday.

The IU Golf Course will play host to the event.  Par will be 72 each day and the yardage will be 6,055 on Saturday and 6,082 in Sunday’s action.  Also set to play in the tournament are Ball State, Bradley, Butler, Eastern Illinois, Illinois State, Indiana, IUPUI, Kansas State, Marshall, Missouri State, Toledo, UMKC, Valparaiso and Western Michigan.

For fans who want to follow the action live, results will be updated throughout play at www.golfstat.com.  Saturday’s action will consist of 36 holes while a single round of 18 will comprise Sunday’s schedule.  A shotgun start will commence the action at 8:30 a.m. ET each day.

Evansville has been on a roll as of late, taking second in its last two tournaments.  After posting a second at the Butler Invitational two weeks ago, UE followed that up with an identical finish at the Belmont Invitational.

Freshman Cathy Doyle has evolved into a force for the Aces, coming in second on the individual leaderboard in the last two events.  Her performance at Butler saw her lead the field after the first day of action before settling for second.  At Belmont, she finished the opening day ranked ninth before shooting the lowest round of the day on April 3, carding an even 72 to advance seven spots.

Two other Evansville golfers placed in the top 15 at Belmont, led by Lauren Ellerman, who notched a 157 en route to a 12th-place finish.  Alyssa Key finished two spots behind after shooting a 159.

Following the trip to Bloomington, UE will wrap up the season at the State Farm MVC Championship, which will be hosted by Indiana State on April 23 and 24.
