EVANSVILLE, Ind. – After having stellar careers at the University of Evansville, a pair of men’s golfers have kept their careers moving in the right direction since leaving campus.
 
Andrew Luo and Griffin Wood each graduated in May, but have seen their amateur careers take shape since then.
 
Luo has set himself up for a berth in the 2012 US Amateur Championship set for next week.  He took top honors at a tournament qualifier on July 30 at Bull Valley Golf Club in Woodstock, Ill., which qualified him to play in this week’s amateur championship.
 
He is set to open up the 112^th US Amateur Championship on Monday, August 13^th where he will tee off at 7:50 a.m. MT at CommonGround Golf Course in Aurora, Colorado.  Cherry Hills Country Club will also play host to the tournament and, along with CommonGround, is located on the outskirts of Denver.  The event will take place through Sunday the 19^th.
 
Fellow 2012 graduate Griffin Wood has continued his play into the Dakotas Tour.  The Dakotas are a series of several tournaments, which take place in North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Minnesota and Iowa.  Events in the tour began on June 30 and run through August 31. 
 
Wood began his Dakotas Tour career at the Yankton, Hillcrest Tournament in Yankton, S.D. and made a quick splash, taking third place in the four-round event.  He finished the tournament with a 15-under 273 to finish just a shot back of winner Neil Johnson.
 
His second event is being played this weekend at Arrowhead Country Club in Rapid City, S.D. and was tied for 24^th following the opening round of play.
