EVANSVILLE, Ind. –
Dylan Terry and Jesse Sharp recorded goals in the first period as the University of Evansville men’s soccer team overcame a late charge to defeat Belmont, 2-1, on Sunday at Arad McCutchan Stadium.

Terry opened up the scoring just 13 minutes in before Sharp registered a goal 24 minutes later.  The Aces outshot Belmont by an 11-7 margin as Faik Hajderovic notched four shots along with an assist.  Sharp tallied three shot.

Dylan Terry, who scored a pair of goals in the preseason, notched his first of the regular season at the 14-minute mark, scoring on a breakaway and making a move on Belmont goalie Jordan Leedle.  Hajderovic assisted on the goal as UE took the 1-0 advantage.

Later in the first period, Jesse Sharp had a close opportunity in front of the net, but the rocket off of his foot was corralled by the BU goalie.  Sharp got his revenge with just over seven minutes remaining in the half as he knocked a rebound in goal.  Ryan Stallings lined a shot that was saved by Leedle, but Sharp got the rebound as knocked it home to put UE up 2-0.

Belmont came out charged up after halftime, scoring their first goal of the game as Nico Olsak assisted Raphael Colmanett to put the Bruins on the board.

Evansville clamped down on its defense after allowing the goal and held on to earn its second victory of the season.  The Bruins tipped the field their way in the latter minutes, but the defense for UE was able to find its way out of trouble each time to hang on for its second victory in as many contests.

The men play one match next weekend as they travel to Georgia State for a 6 p.m. match.
