EVANSVILLE, Ind. –
Freshman Emma Roberson led all players with 13 kills as the University of Evansville volleyball team earned a 3-1 victory over Drake in MVC action at the Carson Center on Friday night.

Roberson, whose previous high in kills was one, led everyone with 13 while hitting an impressive .500 for the Aces (6-11, 2-3 MVC).  Ashley Ring tallied 11 kills while Rachel TenHoor and Stephanie Cerino finished the evening with eight.  Jadranka Tramosljanin and Bentley Mancini led Drake (1-13, 0-4 MVC) with 12 kills apiece.

Drake used a 6-0 run in the first set to grab a 25-20 win.  Jadranka Tramosljanin notched six kills in the game to lead all players.  Evansville scooted out to a quick 2-0 lead before an 8-3 stretch by Drake gave them an 8-5 advantage.  Up 9-8, DU reeled off the next six points to take a 15-8 lead.  The Aces fought back as a Hannah Wilson kill coupled with a Bulldog error brought UE back within one, 18-17, but Drake regained its edge as Tramosljanin had three kills in the final moments of the set to give DU the win.

An unlikely source provided UE with the offense it needed in to tie up the match in the second frame.  Freshman Emma Roberson, who entered the match with three kills in her career, tallied seven in the set to lead UE to the win.  Drake was strong in the early going, opening up an 8-5 lead.  The Aces fought back to tie the game at 12-12 before a Wilson kill gave the lead back to UE.

After Drake closed back within a tally at 19-18, Roberson took over, notching two late kills as UE finished on a 6-1 run to take the victory and knot the match.

Evansville used the momentum it gained and saw that translate into a 25-19 win in the third game.  Ring, who had six kills in the set, notched two early on as the Aces opened up a 3-0 lead.  Drake utilized a 6-2 run to tie the game up for the first time at 7-7.  Later, the game was tied at 11 when Ring and Meaghan Holmes helped UE score three in a row.  The Aces continued to add to that advantage in earning a 25-19 win.

The Aces took full advantage of their chance to seal their second MVC victory of the year in the fourth set as they won in dominating fashion.  After opening up an 8-2 lead, Evansville cruised to a 25-12 win.  Roberson had three kills in the winning set as the Aces hit .286 while limiting Drake to -.148.

Lauren Robertson led the Aces with 27 assists while Jenn Murphy notched 22.  Katie Klages led the way with 22 digs while Hannah Wilson tallied 12.

Next up for UE is a visit from Creighton.  The Bluejays fell to 12-3 and 3-1 in the Valley following a 3-1 defeat at Southern Illinois on Friday evening.
