Women’s Swimming and Diving Falls to Vanderbilt

EVANSVILLE, Ind. –
 The University of Evansville women’s swimming and diving team fell to Vanderbilt this afternoon in Nashville, Tennessee.  The Aces women’s team was defeated by the Commodores 180-82. 
 
Teammates Abby Smith, Mackenzie Harris, Samantha Montgomery, and Michelle Tipton were victorious in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a final time of 1:41.79. Tipton also took a second place win in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:35.02. Meanwhile, Smith brought home a pair of second place wins in both the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.22 and the 100-yard freestyle with a final time of 54.27.

Smith also contributed to a second place win with a final time of 1:49.91 in the 200-yard medley relay along with teammates Taylor Shotwell, Jill Enge, and Michea Reinitz. Reinitz also took a second place spot in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 26.42, as well as tying for second in the 100-yard butterfly with a final time of 58.15. Shotwell also brought home a second place win in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.94, while Enge took the second spot in the 100-yard breaststroke with a final time of 1:07.39.
 
The UE women will return to the pool when they travel to face Western Kentucky in a dual meet on January 19.
