EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville swimming & diving teams competed against Southern Illinois in a packed dual meet today with Southern Illinois coming out on top in both the men, 150-87, and women,138-105 .
The meets were tightly contested with the Aces having top times from the Women's 400 Yard Medley Relay team with a time of 3:56.72, the team consisted of swimmers Michaela Kent,
Mackenzie Powell,
Sam Montgomery and
Abby Smith. Swimmer
Danielle Freeman also posted a top time in the Women's 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 53.52.
For the men, Freshman
Cooper Bowen finished in first place in two events, the first being the Men's 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 9:58.91 and the second being the Men's 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 4:51.82. Junior
Ashton Bishop finished first in two events as well, the Men's 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 21.26 and the Men's 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 46.97.
The Saluki's top competitors were Pamela Benitez who posted top times in the Women's 1000 Yard Freestyle, 10:22.82, the Women's 200 Yard Freestyle, 1:52.77, and the Women's 500 Yard Freestyle, 5:02.64. For the Saluki Men Oleg Rabota won the Men's 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:50.80 and the Men's 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:42.77.

Rickey Perkins was very proud of his team.
"I'm super proud of the way we competed, SIU Is a very good team both the men and women. On the men's side we've scored more points than we have in the past and the women were outstanding as well. From our focus we continue to improve and compete to the best of our abilities each and every day and this meet showed that."
UE will swim next in the Indiana Intercollegiate at 12:00 p.m. on October 26.
