Day One Results
DAYTON, Ohio – Halfway through play at the Dayton Flyer Invitational, the Purple Aces men's golf team stands in fifth place on a crowded leaderboard at NCR Country Club.
With a team score of 289, the Aces stand just five strokes out of the lead. Cleveland State leads the way with a 284 while a 3-way tie for second has Western Kentucky, Bradley and Northern Kentucky with a 288.
Tied for second place overall is
Quinn Vilneff as he shot a 2-under 68 in the opening round of play on Monday. The senior from Amherstburg, Ontario is just one shot off of the leading pace of Andrew Bailey of Cleveland State. Bailey shot a 3-under 67 on Monday to lead the field. Just behind Vilneff was sophomore
Alex Turner, whose 1-under par 69 puts him in a tie for fourth place.
Parker Hensley continued to keep his momentum rolling, posting a 74 on Monday to tie for 32
nd. Rounding out UE's squad was
Rick Voyvodic, who is tied for 71
st with a 78 while
Will Knights carded an 81 and stands tied for 86
th.
Freshman
Jon Pick continues to improve as the season goes along. He recorded a 73 as an individual and is tied for 25th place.
The tournament finishes up on Tuesday with the final round of play. A shotgun start commences the day at 9 a.m. ET.
