DAYTON, Ohio – University of Evansville sophomore
Alex Turner shot an even 70 in the final round of the Dayton Flyer Invitational to complete the event in a tie for second place at NCR Country Club.

Turner fired the low round of the day for the Purple Aces as he followed up his Monday score of 69 with an even 70 on Tuesday. He tied for second place, just three strokes off of Andrew Bailey's winning pace.

Also bringing home a top ten finish was senior
Quinn Vilneff. After his opening day round of 68, Vilneff finished Tuesday's round with a 76 on his way to a 144 and a ninth-place tie. Another senior,
Parker Hensley, shot a 2-over 72 to card a 146 and tie for 20
th.

Coming in a tie for 76
th was sophomore
Will Knights. The native of New Lenox, Ill. improved by six strokes on the second day, shooting a 75 to finish with a 156. Finishing with a 160 was fellow sophomore
Rick Voyvodic as his tally gave him a tie for 89
th. Freshman
Jon Pick had the strongest outing of his young career, totaling a 149 for the contest to tie for 39
th. He shot rounds of 73 and 76, respectively.

Day one saw five teams within five shots of the top spot, but that all changed on Tuesday as Western Kentucky took control of the tournament. As a team, the Hilltoppers were 12 strokes better than their nearest competition in the final round as they cruised to a win by 13 shots over Cleveland State. WKU finished with a 566 while CSU had a 579.Â

Evansville tied Robert Morris for third place with final scores of 582.Â

Andrew Bailey of Cleveland State was the top individual finisher. He fired rounds of 67 and 69 on his way to a 136. Alex Turner, along with Trey Aguirre and Cameron Beal of WKU tied for second with a 139.

The men have just one more fall event remaining as they play in the Hummingbird Intercollegiate from Nov. 3-5. The tournament will take place at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley in Cashiers, N.C.
