Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The duo of
Ashley Ring and
Rachel TenHoor registered seven kills apiece as the University of Evansville volleyball team fell to Missouri State by a 3-0 final on Friday evening.
Ring and TenHoor posted the top offensive totals for the Aces (6-10, 1-4 MVC) while the Bears (10-6, 2-2 MVC) saw Christine McCartney lead everyone with 13 kills while Kayla Walton had 10.
Jenn Murphy finished the evening with 16 assists while Ring led UE with 10 digs. TenHoor hit a team-high .375.
Evansville scored the opening two points in the match as a
Stephanie Cerino kill made it 2-0, but the Bears fought back with seven points in a row before an error saw the Aces halt the run. The Bears continued to rally, going up by a 12-3 tally before eventually finishing with a 25-14 win.
Set two was much closer despite Missouri State opening on a 4-1 stretch.
Meaghan Holmes helped the Aces fight back to tie the score at 4-4 before Ring and TenHoor put UE on top by a 9-7 tally. Another Bear run would prove to be the difference as they bounced back with six in a row, led by three McCartney kills in a row. Their lead would hold up to the tune of a 25-19 final.
The Aces held their own in the third game as they started out on an 8-4 stretch led by two TenHoor kills. Missouri State made their run, tying the match up for the first time at 10-10 before opening up a 14-11 lead. They would continue to add to their edge before earning the overall match by a 25-19 final.
Tomorrow, Evansville will square off against Wichita State beginning at 7 p.m.
