11/1/2013 8:36:00 PM

Box Score EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Evansville senior Katie Klages officially became the all-time digs leader for the program as she notched 17 to pass Julie Walroth's total of 2,095 on Friday versus Wichita State.  Klages stands at 2,107 in her career.

The Shockers (21-5, 10-2 MVC) were dominant as they took a 3-0 victory over the Purple Aces (8-15, 3-9 MVC).  WSU hit .346 in the win while limiting Evansville to .105.  Ashley Ring finished the night with a match-high 10 kills while Klages was tied for the game-high with 17 digs.  Wichita State was led by Elizabeth Field and Chelsey Feekin, who posted nine kills apiece.

Wichita State shot an unheard of .552 in the opening frame, recording 17 kills in 29 attempts with just one error.  The Shockers took an early 9-2 lead behind a pair of Elizabeth Field kills.  Field had six in the first set.  Their lead would reach 19-7 before the Aces made it interesting, scoring three in a row as Meaghan Holmes tallied a kill.  The Shockers punched back, taking a 25-11 win.

Following a rough start to the night, the Aces began the second game with some momentum as they opened the game on a 6-3 run as Ring sent home four kills out of those six tallies.  The Shockers utilized a balanced offense as they fought their way back to tie the game at 7-7 before taking the lead on back-to-back service aces by Dani Mostrom.

As part of a 5-0 run, WSU opened up a 10-7 lead before going up by as many as eight at 23-15 before earning the 25-17 win.  Rachel TenHoor notched three kills late in the set.

Once again, the Aces were strong as they opened a 5-4 lead in the third game behind three Ring kills.  The Shockers had the answer once again as a Field kill set them on a 6-0 run that gave them the lead for good.  Feekin posted a pair of tallies in the run as the Shockers went on to win by a 25-14 final.  The final score was their largest advantage of the frame.

A visit by Missouri State is next up for the Aces as the Bears come to the Carson Center on Saturday evening for a 6 p.m. start.
