EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville Purple Aces swimming & diving teams are traveling to Indianapolis, Ind., Friday, Nov. 22-24, to participate in the House of Champions Meet hosted by IUPUI. The meet will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday morning.
 
The Aces will take on seven teams: Eastern Illinois, Western Illinois, IUPUI, Green Bay, Butler, Centre College and Lewis.
 
On the women's side, Evansville brings in a strong squad. The top two swimmers on the team this year have been freshmen Danielle Freeman and Micheala Kent. Freeman, who has had an outstanding season so far, ranks in the top-15 in the Missouri Valley Conference in five different events including a top two-time in the 50-yard freestyle and a top-three time in the 100-yard freestyle.
 
Kent ranks in the top two in two different events in the MVC, the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard backstroke.
 
The Lady Aces 400-yard medley relay team, made up of Kent, Mackenzie Powell, Sam Montgomery and Abby Smith is one to watch, as they rank second in the MVC.
 
The Evansville men's squad brings in a strong team as well, led by junior standout Ashton Bishop, who ranks in the top-10 in the Mid-American Conference in two events, the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle. Sophomore Troy Burger also comes in on the men's squad ranking in the top-15 in two events, the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard breaststroke.
 
UE's relay team of Bishop, Carder Labrake, Phil Stevenson and Ethan O'Rourke, ranks third in the 200-yard freestyle relay among MAC squads.
 
The last time the Aces competed in the House of Champions meet was in 2012-2013. The women's team finished second and the men's squad finished third.
 
After competing this weekend, the Aces will swim again at Lindsay Wilson/Cumberland College in Columbia, Ky. on Dec. 6.
