Round Two Results
SAPPHIRE, N.C. – Senior
Quinn Vilneff fired a 2-under 69 on Monday as the University of Evansville men's golf team moved up to eighth place at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate with round left to play.
Vilneff took seven shots off of his Sunday total, tallying a 69 in the second round to stand in a tie for 16
th place with a 145.
Alex Turner also saw his score drop, following his opening round of 75 with an even 71 on Monday to stand a shot behind VIlneff with a 146.
Rick Voyvodic carded a 76 to stand in a tie for 42
nd with a 153 as
Will Knights has posted identical rounds of 77 to stand at 154.
Jon Pick tallied a 78 on Monday and has a 156.
Juan Acosta stands in 56
th place with a 176.
Appalachian State now sits atop the leaderboard. The Mountaineers completed Monday with a 283 to take the lead with a 570. Belmont is in second place with a 573 while Wofford and Tennessee Tech are tied for third with a 574. The Purple Aces are in eighth place with a 298, 15 shots behind Western Carolina and Gardner-Webb, who have a 583.
J.T. Poston emerged as the leader on Monday as he holds a lead of four strokes going into Tuesday's final round of action. Poston opened up the tournament with a 69 on Sunday before doing even better in round two, posting a 3-under 68. His 137 is four shots better than his nearest competition.
The teams will play 18 more holes on Tuesday to complete the event.
