EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville swimming & diving teams will compete this Friday against Lindsey Wilson and Cumberland College. The meet will take place in Columbia, Ky. at 6 p.m.
The Aces will come into the meet after having a strong overall performance in the House of Champions Meet in Indianapolis two weeks ago. The Aces finished third on the women's side and fifth on the men's.
For the Lady Aces, junior
Michelle Tipton comes in ranked second in the Missouri Valley Conference in the 100 and 200-yard freestyle events, fourth in the 500-yard freestyle and ninth in the 1000-yard freestyle. Fellow junior
Mackenzie Powell is also ranked second in the MVC in two events, the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke. Freshman
Danielle Freeman is ranked fifth in the 50-yard freestyle and eighth in the 100-yard freestyle.
The women also come in with the top ranked 200-yard medley relay team in the MVC. The team is made up of
Micheala Kent,
Melissa Ball, Powell and
Abby Smith.
Evansville's men's team looks to continue their strong season as well, as the Aces bring in sophomore
Troy Burger who is ranked fourth in the Mid-American Conference in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke. Also ranked in the MAC is junior
Ashton Bishop who continues to impress. Bishop is ranked sixth in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events.
The last time the Aces competed against Lindsey Wilson was 2011-2012 in what was a triangular meet with Vanderbilt. The men cruised past Lindsey Wilson by a final score of 184-89 while the women battled to pull out a 162-132 victory over Vanderbilt.
This will be the last meet of the fall semester. The Lady Aces will swim again on Jan. 10 against Houston in Evansville.
