Day One Results

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Sydney Skiles posted a 2-over 74 as the University of Evansville women’s golf team stands in third place following the opening round of the IPFW Spring Invitational at Brookwood Golf Club.
 
Skiles’ round of 74 has her in a tie for second place entering Monday’s final round of play.  Cathy Doyle is also in the top ten after her 5-over 77 put her in a tie for 7^th place.
 
Four shots behind Doyle was fellow sophomore Dana Hayden, who notched an 81 and stands in a tie for 33^rd place.  Paige Crafton finished a stroke off of Hayden’s pace while Kelly Lamarche notched an 85.  Rachel Marchi carded a 93 playing as an individual.
 
Indianapolis holds the top team and individual rounds entering the second day.  Indy has for of the top seven players, led by Regan Pittard’s 1-over 73, which puts her in the lead, a shot ahead of Skiles.  Jenny Konap is tied for third with a 75 while two others are in the top seven.
 
With a total score of 308, Indianapolis stands a shot ahead of Detroit while the Purple Aces stand in third place with a 314.  In a very tight battle below the top spots, Northern Illinois is fourth (315) while SIU Edwardsville (316), Dayton (317) and Oakland (319) all are within shouting distance of the lead.
 
Skiles and the Aces look to move up the leaderboard on Monday as the final round of play will begin at 10 a.m.
