Day One Results
LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. – Freshman
Paige Crafton led the way for the University of Evansville women’s golf team as her round of 79 helped the Aces to stand in seventh place following day one of the Missouri Valley Conference Championship at The Club at Porto Cima.
Crafton is tied for eighth place with her 7-over 79 and is just three strokes off of leader Danielle Lemek of Bradley. The squads played 18 holes on Sunday and will play the same on Monday and Tuesday.
Five strokes behind Crafton’s pace was
Sydney Skiles, who tallied a +12 84 in the opening round. She is tied for 19
th. Behind her was sophomore
Cathy Doyle, who is also in the top 30 as her round of 86 is tied for 27
th place.
Dana Hayden posted a score of 87 to stand in a tie for 33
rd place while
Kelly Lamarche notched a 95 on Sunday.
Sitting atop the individual leaderboard is Lemek of the Braves. She finished the day with a 4-over 76. Katie Jean from Illinois State is in second with a 77 while five players are tied for third place.
Wichita State posted the top team score as the top seven teams are separated by only 11 shots. The Shockers lead the way with a 325 while Southern Illinois is in second place just a shot behind. Bradley is three strokes off the lead in third place while Indiana State is in fourth with a 330.
Sitting in fifth place is Missouri State with a 332 while Illinois State is in sixth. The Purple Aces are in seventh after registering a 336 on Sunday. They are five strokes ahead of Creighton, who is in 8
th.
