EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Purple Aces head golf coach Jim Hamilton has announced the signing of two players to National Letters of Intent to begin play at the University of Evansville next season.
The Aces officially welcome Jon Pick and Brett Wolvert to the men’s golf team beginning next season.
“I am thrilled to add both of these players to our team,” Hamilton said. “They bring some national experience through junior events and should make an immediate impact on the team and help us achieve our goal of winning the conference championship. I am really excited to coach both of them.”
Pick becomes the third Canadian native to join the Aces as Quinn Vilneff and Rick Voyvodic came to Evansville from Ontario. Pick is a native of Ottawa, Ontario where he attended West Carleton Secondary School and was the MVP of his golf team in each of the last three seasons.
He posted a top 10 finish in the Canadian Mizuno National Championship and played in the 2012 United States Juniors after qualifying for it by winning his qualifier.
Wolvert comes to Evansville from Wilsonville, Ore. where he attended Wilsonville High School. One of his top highlights of his senior season was winning a tournament in Northwest Oregon Conference play at Heron Lakes Golf Course in Portland. He posted a 2-under 70 to lead his team to a 17-stroke victory.
Earlier this year, he was named a First Team All-League golfer by the Northwestern Oregon Conference. His average is currently a 73 while his top performance was a 69 in a weekly high school tournament at “Resort At The Mountain”. Wolvert’s squad sits in second place at this time and is qualified for the state tournament.
