Volleyball Makes Tuesday Trip To Murray State

9/10/2013 9:02:00 AM

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – In the last of a seven-match road trip to begin the season, the Purple Aces volleyball team will travel to Murray State on Tuesday evening for a 7 p.m. tilt.

The teams met just two weeks ago in the opening weekend at North Carolina Central as the Aces swept past the Racers, 3-0.  In the season-opening win, Rachel TenHoor led all players with 13 kills in one of the top efforts of her career.  Meaghan Holmes was just behind with nine kills, a career high at the time.

Evansville looks to halt a recent 3-match skid as they dropped a match at UT Martin prior to a trip to the Miami Invitational where they fell to the host RedHawks and Northern Kentucky.  One of the bright points for UE over that stretch has been the play of Ashley Ring.  In the last three matches, Ring has posted a total of 53 kills to lead the team.

Since falling in its opening two matches, the Racers have gone on to win its last four.  They topped North Carolina Central before taking all three matches to win the Spartan-Aggie Invitational in Greensboro, N.C. over the weekend.

Following the quick trip to Murray, Evansville returns to the Carson Center to host its home tournament this weekend, facing Memphis, SIU Edwardsville and Valparaiso.
