Box Score EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Senior
Rachel TenHoor led the Purple Aces volleyball team with 13 kills, but Morgan Reardon tallied 19 while hitting .406 to lead Loyola to a 3-0 victory on Friday evening at the Carson Center.
TenHoor had strong all around night for Evansville (5-9, 0-3 MVC), recording 13 kills. Her hitting also was a team-high for the Aces.
Lorena Marquez posted a team-high 23 assists while
Katie Klages finished the night with 13 digs.
A pair of blocks got set the Aces off to a 4-1 lead in the opening set.
Meaghan Holmes recorded a solo block and an assist in the stretch. Evansville continued to lead, taking a 9-6 lead before the Ramblers posted three in a row to tie it up at 9-9 before taking their first advantage at 15-14. Every point from 9-9 through 16-16 was tied before Loyola took control. After going up 21-18, their lead would eventually sit at 24-20. With the match on the line, the Aces forced three errors before Emily Carr registered a kill to finish off the 25-23 win. Morgan Reardon had seven kills in the set.
TenHoor posted six kills in the second frame as the Aces got off to a blazing 4-0 start as TenHoor helped the offense. Just as fast as they took the lead, UE let Loyola get right back into it as the Ramblers fought back to tie it up at 6-6 before going up 8-6 on a Libby Bresser kill. The Ramblers continued to lead until Evansville made a late run. Down 20-18, a Holmes kill helped UE tie it up at 20 before a Loyola error gave the lead back to the Aces.
The Ramblers fought back, though as Reardon tallied a pair of kills in the final two points to give them another 25-23 triumph.
Game three saw Reardon play a crucial role once again, posting eight kills in what would be a 25-16 win. Once again, Evansville started off well, posting the opening three tallies as TenHoor had two kills and Ashley Ring had one. Loyola had the answer once again, scoring nine points in a row with Reardon responsible for six of those points by herself. The Ramblers cruised to a 25-16 win to take the match.
Evansville looks to win their first MVC match on Saturday when Bradley comes to the Carson Center for a 6 p.m. match.
