Box Score EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Purple Aces volleyball team quickly regrouped from a Friday evening defeat to take a strong 3-1 victory over Bradley at the Carson Center on Saturday evening.

Junior Ashley Ring led the Aces (6-9, 1-3 MVC) with 14 kills while Emma Roberson posted 11.  The sophomore hit .423 in the match while failing to commit an error.  Also helping in the win was the consistent offense that hit .246 while holding Bradley (8-4, 2-1 MVC) to .212.  The Braves offense was led by Amy Angelos with 16 kills while Alise Tupuritis chipped in 15.

A pair of Bradley errors helped the Aces grab an early 3-1 edge before the Braves came back to take a 5-4 lead on a service error.  That would be the last lead the Braves would enjoy in the frame as the Aces fought to win by a 27-25 final.  It would not come easy, though, but the Aces jumped out to a 14-9 edge on kills by Roberson and Ring.

Up 17-12, UE let Bradley back into it as they scored five in a row, including a pair of service aces.  Ring ended the run with a strong kill and the Aces later took a 24-22 edge on a Meaghan Holmes kill.  Bradley came right back as Jessie Tulacka helped them tie it up at 24-24.  Evansville fought back as a Rachel TenHoor kill coupled with a BU error gave the Aces a 27-25 victory.

It was all Bradley in the second game as they quickly erased a 2-0 deficit to go up 5-2 as Amy Angelos had four kills out of five points early on.  Their lead would grow to as many as 10 at 20-10 before that advantage held true to the tune of a 25-15 win to tie up the match.  The second frame saw the Braves hit .389 as a team while holding UE to .185.

Much as Bradley took control in the second set, Evansville took a firm grasp of the match in game three as they stormed out of the break to take a 9-4 lead.  With the score tied at 4-4, UE tallied five points in a row as Roberson notched a kill and the Aces forced Bradley into three bad sets in the span.  The lead for the Aces got as high as 10 at 23-13 before Bradley made a late rally.  Six Brave points in a row forced head coach Manolo Concepcion into a timeout where he drew up a pair of successful plays as the Aces took a 25-19 win.

Evansville left little doubt in the fourth set, scoring the first three points and never looking back.  The advantage got as high as 13 at 21-8 before UE settled for a 25-14 win to seal their first MVC win of the season.  Ring posted five of her 14 kills in the set as Evansville outhit Bradley by a .233-.024 margin to take the win.

On the defensive end, Holmes led a UE attack that finished the night with 11 total team blocks.  She posted five assists and one solo block.  Katie Klages totaled 24 digs to lead all players.

It is back to the road for Evansville next weekend as they face Missouri State on Friday before traveling to Wichita State on Saturday.  Both matches are slated to begin at 7 p.m.
