Kayla Katterhenry is tied for fifth place following the opening day of the Redbird Invitational as the Purple Aces women's golf team is tied for 8
th place entering Monday's final round.
Katterhenry opened up play with a 70 before notching a 73 in the second round on Sunday. She is just three strokes off of the lead with 18 more holes set to take palce. Seven shots behind her was sophomore
Paige Crafton, who is tied for 17
th with a 150 after shooting identical 75's.
Dana Hayden carded scores of 82 and 78 en route to a 160 while
Cathy Doyle tallied a 166. Hayden is tied for 58
th while Doyle is in 76
th.
Maggie Camp finished the day with a 170 in her first collegiate action.
Toledo holds a 3-stroke lead on the team side with a 592. Despite their top two players tied for eighth, all five of the Rockets women are in the top 27 in what has been a consistent effort. Another Mid-American Conference school, Bowling Green, is in second with a 595.
Bradley and Ball State are tied for fourth place with scores of 597 while Illinois State rounds out the top five with a 602. Evansville is tied with South Dakota State for eighth place with a 619, seven shots behind Ohio U.
Lily Bartell of BGSU leads the way on the individual side as her Sunday total of 140 is two shots ahead of a 3-way tie for second place. Katterhenry is alone in fifth and in striking distance as Monday's final round will get underway at 8:30 a.m.
