EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville swimming & diving team will travel to Carbondale, Ill. to take on the Southern Illinois Salukis in a dual meet on Saturday, Feb. 01. The meet will be held all day.
Evansville will look to put on a strong performance before conference and championship meets begin on Feb. 13.
The Aces bring in three-time Missouri Valley Conference Swimmer of the Week in freshman
Danielle Freeman, as she looks to continue her stellar season and junior's
Michelle Tipton and
Mackenzie Powell who had very strong meets last week.
Freeman is tied for seventh in the MVC in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.00 and ninth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.49. Tipton is ranked fourth in the MVC in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.77, third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.60, fifth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:58.88 and tenth in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:44.53. Powell is ranked second in the MVC in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.77 and third in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:06.21.
Evansville's men's squad, which competes in the Mid-American Conference, brings in juniors
Ashton Bishop, who ranks ninth in the MAC in the 50 & 100-yard freestyle with times of 20.83 and 45.91 and
Troy Burger who ranks fifth in the MAC in both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke with times of 56.62 and 2:03.59.
The Salukis bring in Luisa Silveira on the women's side who ranks first in the women's 50-yard freestyle and eighth in the 100-yard freestyle in the MVC and DJ Vukobrat on the men's squad who ranks fourth in the 50-yard freestyle and sixth in the 100-yard freestyle in the MAC.
This will be the second dual meet this season between the two squads, with Southern Illinois winning the first meet by a score of 288-192.
The meet against Southern Illinois will be the Aces final dual meet of the season. The Lady Aces will swim again on Feb.13-15 in the MVC Championships and the men's squad will compete in the MAC Championships on Mar.06-08.
