DES MOINES, Iowa – The University of Evansville men's soccer team (5-8-1, 3-1-0) won 4-1 on the road at Drake on Saturday evening.

The Purple Aces have now won three straight Missouri Valley Conference matches after their first win at Drake since the 2001 season.

The four goals scored is the second most in a game this season for UE, trailing only a five goal performance against Belmont on September 5.

Evansville started the scoring in the 14th minute when senior defender Kevin Schafer hit a long ball to senior forward Dylan Terry. As the ball found Terry, he flicked it over an approaching goalkeeper Darrin MacLeod for the 1-0 lead. The goal was the second this season for Terry.

After Drake scored the game tying goal in the 39th minute, both teams would go into halftime even at one.

Following the break, UE went on the offensive to score the match's final three goals.

Junior midfielder Mark Anthony Gonzalez pushed Evansville ahead 2-1 with a goal in the 50th minute. He took a shot from the top of the 18 yard box and placed it in the corner of the net for the advantage. For Gonzalez, it was his fifth goal of the year.

UE increased their lead to two goals just four minutes later. Sophomore forward Jared Robinson received a pass from junior forward Nate Opperman in the 18 yard box and deposited it in the corner of the net for the 3-1 lead. It would be Robinson's first goal of the year and third career goal.

Evansville then stretched the advantage to three with a goal from senior defender Charlie Macias. In the 69th minute, junior midfielder Faik Hajderovic teamed up with Macias for a give-and-go just outside the 18 yard box. Macias now has a team-high six goals this fall as Hajderovic ties Terry for a team-best four assists this year.

Senior goalkeeper Eric Teppen grabbed three saves in the victory.

Evansville outshot Drake 18-14 in the match, including a 12-5 total in the second half.

Macias paced UE with four shots on the night. Gonzalez and Hajderovic each totaled three shots in the match as well.

Evansville will be back at home on Wednesday, October 29 when they host the Indiana Hoosiers at Arad McCutchan Stadium. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
