Women’s Swimming Earns Road Win at Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. –
The University of Evansville women's swimming and diving team picked up a 176-110 road victory at Arkansas Little Rock on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Purple Aces had a stellar meet, winning several events.  Pacing the squad were Danielle Freeman and Michelle Tipton.  Freeman picked up wins in the 200 free, 100 free and 100 butterfly.  Her 200 free time came in at 1:55.62, over three seconds better than her nearest competition.  She defeated her competition soundly in the 100 free, finishing in 52.39.
 
Her margin of victory was just a bit less in the butterfly as her 58.48 was .08 ahead of the Trojans' 58.56.
 
Tipton was part of a group that took top honors in the 200 medley relay.  She teamed with Michaela Kent, Sam Montgomery and Mackenzie Harris to win the event in 1:49.49.  On her own, she sprinted to a win over teammate Abby Smith in the 50 free.  She swam a 24.54.
 
Mackenzie Powell took the win in the 100 breaststroke.  She finished .07 ahead of the competition with a 1:07.81.  Michaela Kent picked up top honors in the 200 backstroke.  She topped UE's Taylor Davidson with her 2:07.77.  Powell won by four seconds.
 
Courtney Coverdale swept the diving events.  Her 261.00 was tops in the 1 meter while her and teammate Stephanie Tran were 1-2 in the 3-meter.  Coverdale had a 230.20 while Tran scored a 215.85.
 
Next up for the Purple Aces is the House of Champions.  It will take place from Nov. 21-23 in Indianapolis.
