SOUTHAVEN, Miss. –The University of Evansville softball team looked like a complete different ball club on Saturday afternoon, as the Purple Aces won both of their games in the Blues City Classic.

UE won its first game against Morehead State, 6-3, and its second game over Alabama A&M, 5-2, bringing Evansville to a 4-4 record.

Remaining Tournament Schedule:
02.23 – UE vs Appalachian State – 10:00 a.m.(Live Stats)

Game one – vs Morehead State
The Aces came out swinging in the first inning, taking a 5-0 lead after the top of the first. The offense started clicking with junior Kayla Fortner, who got the Aces going with a single to right center. Megan Gurski was able to reach on a fielder's choice and senior Niki Rahming drove Gurski in to put the Aces up 1-0 early and the offense kept rolling. Four Aces had an RBI in the first, including Morgan Baer who had two.

Annie Moore held the Eagles to two runs in the bottom of the first and one more in the third, as that would be all Morehead State could come up with offensively.

After three, Evansville was up 5-3 and the Aces brought in senior Emily Morris (2-2) to finish the first game off in the bottom of the fourth.

After a scoreless fourth inning, the Aces put one more run on the board, as Michal Luckett put the Aces up 6-3. Morris finished the game allowing only two runs in 4.0 innings.

UE's offense was led by sophomore Morgan Baer who had two RBI, while scoring one run.

Game two – vs Alabama A&M
The Purple Aces kept the offense rolling in game two of the day against Alabama A&M, as Evansville won 5-2.

UE was led by junior Kayla Fortner, who was walked twice, had an RBI, two hits and a stolen base, and freshman Michal Luckett who scored two runs with one RBI, a hit and a stolen base. Freshman Emma Buckles also had three stolen bases in the game.

After a scoreless first Evansville took the lead in the bottom of the second going up 3-0. Junior Megan Gurski (1-2) was in the circle to start the game off for UE and pitched 5.0 innings allowing only two runs, while striking out seven.

Alabama A&M scored a run in the top of the third and the Aces responded scoring one of their own in the bottom of the fourth, putting Evansville up 4-1 after four.

The top of the fifth saw Alabama A&M score one more run and that would be the best AAMU could do. Evansville brought in freshman Briana Combs, who got the save for UE by allowing only one hit in 2.0 innings pitched.

The Aces would add one more run to the board in the bottom of the sixth putting them up 5-2 to finish off the game.
