The Benbow Champions face USI this weekend

Aces and USI to Square Off In Weekend Golf Event

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Evansville and USI's men's golf teams will face off this weekend in the UE/USI Challenge Cup this weekend at Oak Meadow Country Club.
 
Action will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday with 18 holes being played each day.  The tournament will feature tee times on both days.  Admission is free and the public is invited out to the course to follow the men in their only home appearance of the season.
 
Earlier this week, the Purple Aces finishing in 8th place at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate in Sevierville, Tenn.  Pacing the Purple Aces was senior Quinn Vilneff, who came home in a tie for 17th on the strength of a 221.  He shot a 4-over 76 on Tuesday.  In Monday's second round, Vilneff carded the low round of the tournament for UE with a 72.
 
Alex Turner was three strokes behind with a 224.  The sophomore matched Vilneff's third round total of 76 on his way to a tie for 25th place.  Parker Hensley posted a 77 on Tuesday en route to a 227.  That score tied him for 37th place.
 
The Screaming Eagles have played just one tournament this spring.  They traveled to Philadelphia, Miss. for the Frito Lay Taco Bell Intercollegiate on Feb. 16-17.  USI finished 8th out of 15 squads in the event as David Janney led the way, posting a 10-over 154 to tie for 17th place overall.
 
Those were the opening two rounds of the season for Janney, who leads the team with a 77.0 stroke average.  Logan Osborne has played all 12 rounds dating back to the fall and has posted a 77.2 average.
