SILVIS, Ill. – With one round down and two remaining, the University of Evansville men's golf team stands in a tie for 6
th place at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship at TPC Deere Run.
Originally scheduled for two rounds of play on Monday, weather halted the action during the second round at 4:29 p.m. Teams resume play with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Each squad will complete the second round before advancing to the third and final round.
Leading the way for the Purple Aces in the first round was sophomore
Alex Turner. The Evansville product stands in a tie for 10
th place after recording a 3-over 74 in on Monday.
The remainder of UE's contingent was separated by just four strokes. Following Turner on the leaderboard was senior
Quinn Vilneff. The winner of last week's Ralph Coleman Award stands tied for 23
rd after posting a 78 in the first 18 holes. Sophomore
Rick Voyvodic finished the day just one shot off of Vilneff. Voyvodic carded a 79 and is tied for 27
th.

Will Knights finished Monday's round with an 80 while senior
Parker Hensley completed the day with an 81.
Wichita State has all five of its players in the top 19 as the Shockers lead the nine squads participating. WSU registered a 291 on Monday and sits five shots ahead of UNI. The Panthers opened play with a 296 as four of their players are in the top 15.
Completing the top three was Illinois State. The Redbirds are also right in the mix of things, posting a 297 as they enter the final two rounds just six shots off the lead.
Evansville finished the opening round with a 311 and is tied for sixth place with Missouri State. The duo Is just five strokes out of the top five as Southern Illinois is in fifth with a 306 while Bradley sits fourth with a score of 305.
Chandler Rusk of the Shockers leads the individuals. Rusk posted the only sub-par round of the day, touring the course with a 1-under 70. Dustin Atkinson of UNI and Tyler Gentilella from Illinois State are tied for second. Each player finished with an even round of 71.
On Tuesday, the teams will complete their second round before playing the full third round.
