PEORIA, Ill. – With a 1-under 71, University of Evansville golfer
Parker Hensley sits in a tie for second place as the Purple Aces are one stroke off the lead at the Bradley Invitational at Pekin Country Club.
Hensley is in a 7-way tie for second place in an extremely competitive event. He posted a 36 on the front nine before finishing with a 35 on the final nine holes of play. Just behind him is
Quinn Vilneff. He posted an even 72 and is tied for 9
th place.
Will Knights had a solid round on Saturday. He carded a 1-over 73 and is tied for 13
th while
Alex Turner made it four UE players in the top 15 as his round of 74 tied him for 15
th place.
Rick Voyvodic posted a 78. Playing as an individual, freshman
Brett Wolvert had a strong day, tying for 9
th place with his even 72.
As a team, the Aces are one shot off of Bradley's pace. The Braves posted a 289 on Saturday as all five of their players were in the top 20. UE checked in with a 290 while Detroit (294), IPFW (295) and Loyola (296) round out the top five. The top five institutions are separated by just seven strokes.
Leading the individual leaderboard is Jacob Groninger of IPFW. He holds a lead of two strokes over seven players tied for second. Groninger finished the day with a 3-under 69.
One more round remains as the teams will play 18 holes on Sunday beginning at 9 a.m.
