EVANSVILLE, Ind. –
The University of Evansville men's soccer team will be making its home debut Friday night, when the Purple Aces host Belmont at 7:30 p.m. at Arad McCutchan Stadium.  UE will conclude the home-opening weekend with a match against Lipscomb Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m.

Evansville (0-1-1) will be welcoming local high school soccer fans to Friday night's match, as fans who attended a high school match prior to the Purple Aces' contest with Belmont (0-2-0) can present their ticket stub at McCutchan Stadium for a $2 discount.

UE opened its 2014 season last weekend at the Nike Portland Invitational, dropping their season opener to Oregon State, 3-1, before earning a 1-1 draw at Portland.  Sophomore Mark Anthony Gonzalez provided  Evansville with its lone goal in the loss to the Beavers and Charlie Macias scored what was voted the TopDrawerSoccer National Goal of the Week in the tie at Portland, as the Aces' defense played the final 68 minutes with only 10 men, following a first-half red card.

Evansville was outshot, 32-24, last weekend, but earned eight corner kicks to its opponents five.  The Aces put seven of their 24 shots on frame for a .292 percentage, while allowing opponents to a post a .406 mark.

Gonazlez and Macias are tied for the team lead with two points apiece and junior Faik Hajderovic leads UE with nine shots.  Goalkeeper Eric Teppen enters the weekend with a 1.80 goals against average and nine saves.

Belmont was shut out by South Carolina and Kentucky in its first two games of the 2014 season, as the Bruins fell to the Gamecocks, 1-0, in double overtime, before suffering a 2-0 setback at Kentucky.

Belmont was outshot, 50-9, in its opening two games and placed just two shots on goal, while conceding 19 corner kicks.  Individually, Rashad Hyacenth led the Bruins with four shots, while goalkeeper Grayson Rector racked up 15 saves for a .833 save percentage.

Lipscomb (2-0-0) defeated Xavier, 3-2, and Eastern Illinois, 2-1, last weekend to start its season with a perfect record.  The Bisons attempted 19 shots in the two-match span, while allowing 25, and put nine shots on goal, while earning eight corner kicks.

Matt Kerridge scored a pair of goals and tallied an assist for a team-high five points and Reece Holcombe added a goal and two assists for four points.  Omar Djabi and Anthony Cedano combined for LU's other two goals and goalkeeper Nate Davis posted a 1.50 goals against average, stopping seven of the 10 shots he faced.

Evansville leads the all-time series with Belmont, 6-2, and has won the last four meetings, including a 2-1 victory at McCutchan Stadium last season.  Against the Bisons, the Aces are 3-0-2 all time and defeated Lipscomb 1-0 last season in Nashville, marking head coach Mike Jacobs' 100th-career victory.
