EVANSVILLE, Ind. – With week one in the books, the Purple Aces volleyball team embarks on its second week of action with a trip to Kent, Ohio for the Golden Flashes Classic.
Evansville begins the tournament on Friday versus host Kent State at noon ET before going right back on the floor at 4 p.m. versus New Hampshire. On Saturday, UE closes out the event with a tilt against Morehead State at 10 a.m. ET.

Genesis Miranda each finishes with a match-high of 15 kills. Both also finished with accurate hitting performances. Ring hit .344 on the night while Miranda checked in at .237.
Another freshman,
Grace Carter, has been playing well since making her way into the lineup. In the match against the Governors, Carter recorded a match-high 34 assists to go along with seven digs.
Kent State is the first opponent for UE in the opening match of the event. The Golden Flashes went 2-1 in their trip to the College of Charleston Invitational. Following a season-opening loss to Mercer, Kent State rallied back to defeat Davidson and College of Charleston. Kelsey Bittinger has been the top KSU player thus far, averaging 3.50 kills per set for a total of 42 on the year.
The Wildcats of New Hampshire come into the weekend with a 1-2 mark following their berth in the UConn Classic. UNH began the weekend with losses to Connecticut and Indiana before rallying to beat Central Connecticut State in five sets. Tori Forest has had a monstrous beginning to 2014 as he total of 49 kills leads the way for UNH. That translates into an average of 4.08 per set.
Morehead State will be the final match of the weekend for UE. The Eagles went 0-3 in their opening home tournament where they faced Radford (twice) and Northern Kentucky. Hannah Sigala led the Eagles with 31 kills in the first weekend while Laura McDermott checked in with 27.
After the trip to Ohio, the Aces return home for a huge week of action. On Tuesday, Evansville plays host to Tennessee before hosting their home tournament next weekend. Central Michigan, DePaul and IUPUI are the opponents.
