UE Swimming and Diving splits with Saint Louis

EVANSVILLE, Ind. –
The University of Evansville swimming and diving teams held Senior Day on Saturday as the women earned a 139-101 win over Saint Louis while the men fell by a 146-85 final at Wyttenbach Pool.
 
Evansville's women started the day off with a win in the 200 medley relay.  Michaela Kent, Mackenzie Powell, Sam Montgomery and Danielle Freeman were victorious with a 1:48.07. 
 
Michelle Tipton had a strong day for the Aces.  She took the win in the 1000 free, finishing in 10:34.65 while finishing first in the 100 free (52.53).
 
Several other Aces also finished on top, led by Kent, who took wins in the 200 free (1:58.98) and 100 back (1:00.02).  Freeman led the way in the 50 free with her time of 24.36 while Powell paced UE in the 100 breast, registering a finish of 1:06.92.
 
On the men's side, the group of Ethan O'Rourke, Matt Childress, Phil Stevenson and Ashton Bishop earned top honors in the 200 free relay.  They finished with a 1:26.80, just .01 ahead of SLU.  The Aces also earned the top three positions in the 100 breast, led by Will Glasscock's time of 1:01.58.  Troy Burger was second while Conor Sprick took third.
 
O'Rourke was also victorious in the 100 back.  He posted a time of 53.44.
 
Both squads performed exceptional in diving.  Courtney Coverdale and Stephanie Tran finished 1-2 in both the 1 and 3 meter dives while Austin Penler took the top spot in both events.
 
The men and women will both be in action next weekend.  On Friday, the men will be in Bloomington, Ind. to face Indiana and Louisville.  The women wrap up their home slate on Saturday, facing Illinois State in a 2 p.m. meet.
