EVANSVILLE, Ind.
– Last time out, the University of Evansville volleyball team put forth one of its best all-around efforts in earning a 3-1 win over Drake.  The Purple Aces will look to keep those winning ways going this weekend as they make a trip through the state of Illinois.

On Friday, the Aces open up the weekend with a 7 p.m. match at Bradley.  From there, Evansville heads to Loyola for a 5 p.m. tilt on Saturday.

Purple Aces sophomore Genesis Miranda tied her career mark with 28 kills in a 3-1 victory over Drake.  Her 28 kills came in 71 attempts with just nine errors as she hit .268.  Just as impressive, she recorded 16 digs in the win.

For the third time this year and the first time versus an MVC opponent since last year, Evansville notched over 20 block assists.  The Aces are 3-0 this season when doing so and 4-0 going back to last season.

Five UE players finished with double figure digs, led by a career-best 19 from Stephanie Cerino against Drake.  As a team, the Aces finished with 86 on the night.  It is the most the team has had in a league match since tallying 99 at Bradley in 2013.

After going 5-7 in non-conference action, the Braves have fallen in their first ten league matches of the season.  Their highest statistical rank in the MVC is a 5th place with 1.23 service aces per set.  Lea Sack has gotten the job done on the defensive side.  Her 4.68 digs per frame is third-best in the conference while her total of 365 digs is seventh.

One of the surprises in league play has been Loyola.  The Ramblers stand at 18-5 overall and have been victorious in seven of their first ten conference outings to sit in second place in the league.  Their overall record is the best in the conference and so is their defense.  They allow opponents to hit just 0.166.  Offensively, Maureen Carls has been stellar for Loyola, hitting .382 on the season.  That is fourth in the MVC and 39th in the nation.
