EVANSVILLE, Ind. – In her fourth year with the Purple Aces, Kim Deprez is playing the best volleyball of her career.  A 40-dig effort at Northern Iowa was the highlight of a season that has seen her rank in the top 30 in the nation in digs.
 
"I came out with more of an aggressive mentality this season and that has paid off," Deprez said.  "I have the attitude that I can get each ball that comes my way."
 
That was shown in her record-breaking performance against the Panthers where the set the single-match program record with her 40 digs.  She also sits atop the Missouri Valley Conference in that category.
 
"A big difference this year has been the serving as it has been getting the opposition out of its system," she said.  "From there, we have been focusing on getting the ball outside making it easier for the middles to close the block."
 
The overall efforts of the team resulted in a much-improved performance on the floor, despite being one of the youngest teams in the country and also the nation.  Deprez has been one of the veteran leaders on the team and has seen improvement each and every season under head coach Manolo Concepcion.
 
"When Manolo came in, he nitpicked little things and we worked on muscle memory and memorizing our techniques.  Those attributes helped to make me and also my teammates much better on the court," Deprez commented.  "For me, I was able to spend a lot of time behind Katie Klages.  She was a great leader who helped me out, especially on the defensive side."
 
Those lessons have certainly paid off for her.  She has been on top of the Valley all season in digs and, even more impressive, has been one of the top libero's in the nation in 2015!
