CARBONDALE, Ill. –
The University of Evansville women's swimming and diving team remains in fourth place following the third day of the Missouri Valley Conference Championship hosted by Southern Illinois.

Three school records went by the wayside today including:

"I am happy with the way the girls performed today," Evansville head coach Rickey Perkins said.  "For Michelle and Danielle, it was big to win their events.  It is a credit to the girls' hard work in the weight room, classroom and in the pool and everything is coming together at the right time."

Michelle Tipton continued to excel in the meet as she was victorious in the 200 free.  In an exciting finish, Tipton edged out Marissa Yontz of Illinois State by 0.07 seconds.  Tipton swam a 1:48.35, besting Yontz's 1:48.42.

Keeping up with Tipton in the win column was Danielle Freeman.  The sophomore took top honors in the 100 fly as she finished with a dominant 55.63.  She was the lone swimmer to wrap up the event in under 56 seconds.

Relays have been a strong point for the Purple Aces throughout the championships and they were at it once again on Friday as Michaela Kent, Mackenzie Powell, Sam Montgomery and Tipton earned a 3rd place finish in the 400 medley relay.  The group finished with a time of 3:47.87.

Powell has also performed strong in the meet.  She brought home a fifth place finish in the 100 breaststroke, registering a 1:03.93.
