COLUMBUS, Ohio – In her first NCAA Zone appearance, University of Evansville freshman Courtney Coverdale wrapped up the first day of competition at McCorkle Aquatics Pavilion in Columbus, Ohio.
Today marked the 3-meter dive event for the women. Over the course of her six dives in the prelims, Coverdale averaged 37.90 points per dive, good for a final score of 227.4. The effort put her in a solid 35
th place out of 51 divers.
In the finals on Thursday, top honors went to Pei Lin of Miami (Ohio) as her average of 58.29 translated to a 349.74. Coming in second was Kaixuan Zhang of Southern Illinois, whose score checked in at 343.92.
Coverdale will continue competition at the NCAA Zone C meet on Friday with the 1-meter dive. The dive is the exact event that qualified Coverdale for the NCAA's. In the opening meet of the season, she posted a 266.77.
