COLUMBUS, Ohio – Day two of the NCAA Zone C Regional saw University of Evansville freshman Courtney Coverdale participate in the 1-meter dive in Columbus, Ohio.
After a solid finish in yesterday's 3M, Coverdale finished in 39
th place out of 53 in today's 1M. Her average was a 38.70, which equates to a 232.2 in the preliminary round.
The top two from yesterday's event also finished atop the leaderboard in the 1M and are headed to the finals. Pei Lin of Miami took top honors with a 329.25 while Kaixuan Zhang of Southern Illinois was second with a 312.30.
With today's effort, Coverdale finishes a strong freshman season that saw her qualify for the qualified for the NCAA's in the opening home meet of the season versus Southern Illinois. Her score of 266.77 in the 1-meter event was the clinching score.
She got even better as her inaugural campaign at UE went along and that was capped off by her top effort at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships. Coverdale recorded a 289.35 to take fourth place. It was also within shouting distance of Sadie Wells' school record of 297.25. Wells set the UE mark in the 1-meter, 6-dive event in the 2012-13 season.
