Day One Results
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Sophomore Kayla Katterhenry posted a 7-over 79 as the University of Evansville women's golf team played its first round of the spring on Monday at the Don Benbow Intercollegiate at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club.
As a team, the Purple Aces rank fourth out of 10 colleges and are just one spot outside of the top three.
Evansville was led by Kayla Katterhenry, who finished the first day in a tie for 6
th place with a 79. She is four shots off the lead. Cathy Doyle carded an 81 in the first round of play. That was good for a tie for 11
th place.
Also ranking in the top 20 was fellow sophomore Maggie Camp and Giulia Mallman. Their rounds of 86 have them tied for 20
th place overall. Kelly Lamarche recorded an 89 on Monday and is tied for 32
nd while Rachel Marchi posted a 103.
Cleveland State's Sophie Kelner leads the individuals. Her 3-over 75 has her atop a 3-way tie for second place. That trio includes a pair of Butler players (Jenna Peters and Isabella Lambert) along with USI's Anastasia Carter. Allyson Hackman of CSU is fifth with Katterhenry checking in sixth.
Host Butler leads the way with a 314. They enter the final day of the event with a lead of 10 strokes over Cleveland State. Southern Indiana is third at 331 with the Aces checking in at 332.
