Evansville Golf travels to Bradley Invitational

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Plenty of Missouri Valley Conference competition will be on hand as the University of Evansville golf teams travel to Peoria, Ill. for the Bradley Invitational this weekend.
 
Set for April 3 and 4, it will be held at WeaverRidge Golf Club in Peoria, Ill.  All schools will play 36 holes on Friday with the final 18 taking place on Saturday.  Play begins with at 8 a.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
 
Men's participants include: Bradley, Chicago State, Drake, Evansville, IPFW, Loyola, South Dakota, Western Illinois and Green Bay.  On the women's side, the teams will include: Bradley, Evansville, UIC, Indiana State, Loyola, South Dakota, SIUE and Western Illinois.
 
In the women's last day of action at the Samford Intercollegiate, Kayla Katterhenry fired a hole-in-one as the Purple Aces finished up the Samford Intercollegiate in Hoover, Ala.
 
Her shot helped her to earn her second-consecutive top two finish as she tied for second place in the tournament.  Her final score was a 225.  It tied her with Alison Hovatter of Ole Miss.  Mississippi's Stani Schiavone was the top finisher in the event, posting a 225.  She shot the low round of the event with a 65 on the final day.  Her margin of victory was ten strokes.
 
Cathy Doyle's consistent spring continued.  She posted her third top 12 finish in a row, taking 12th place with a 232.  She followed up Monday's rounds of 79 and 75 with a 78 to clinch the finish.  Coming in a tie for 39th for the Aces were Maggie Camp and Giulia Mallmann.  They each registered final scored of 251.
 
Evansville's men are the defending champions of the tournament.  All five UE players were separated by just four strokes as each one finished in the top 14.  That tally also included Evansville's individual.
 
Leading the way was Parker Hensley, who finish in a tie for seventh place.  Alex Turner and Quinn Vilneff each tied for 10th place.  Both finished with 2-round totals of 146.  Rick Voyvodic and Will Knights tied for 14th place with each shooting a 148.  Voyvodic led Evansville with a low round of 70 on the final day.  Making the effort even more impressive was the performance of freshman Brett Wolvert, who played as an individual.  He tied for 14th place with a 148.
 
The Aces defeated USI in the UE/USI Challenge last weekend at Oak Meadow Country Club.
