Evansville ties for 4th at MVC Championship

SUNRISE BEACH, Mo.
– In one of the top postseason performances in recent program history, the University of Evansville men's golf team tied for fourth place at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship at The Club at Porto Cima.
 
The Purple Aces put forth a strong effort in all three rounds of the event and fell just two strokes short of coming home in second place.  As a team, UE finished tied for fourth with 903 strokes while UNI and Southern Illinois tied for second place with a 901.  Wichita State took the championship, finishing with 864.
 
After leading the Aces on day one, WIl Pahud finished in a tie for 10th place with a 223.  His final round total checked in at 76 as he finished just three shots out of the top five in a crowded leaderboard.
 
Two behind him was Rick Voyvodic.  The junior tied Pahud for the lowest round of the day on the team with a 76.  His final score finished at a 225 and was good for a tie for 13th.  Tyler Gray finished his first MVC Championship in a tie for 16th overall.  He notched a 226 as UE's top three players came home in the top 16.
 
Next up was Will Knights, who finished with a 229.  His score tied him for 22nd as he registered a final-round score of 77.  Alex Turner carded a 78 on Tuesday and finished 38th with a 239.
 
Louis Cohen Boyer of the Shockers was medalist of the event, posting a 211.  Despite shooting his highest round of the event on Tuesday (75), he was able to win by three shots over Loyola's Garret Buckley.  Grant Bennett of WSU finished in third place with a 216.
