EVANSVILLE, Ind. - In a country full of Division I baseball players, the nation's highest batting average resides in the third biggest city in the state of Indiana. University of Evansville outfielder
Kevin Kaczmarski is batting .453 this spring, the highest average in America. The redshirt senior also leads the Purple Aces in hits (63) , doubles (14), triples (six) , runs batted in (39), total bases (101), slugging percentage (.727), on-base percentage (.530) and stolen bases (12) but few people know of this outfielder from Cary, Ill. He is currently on a 15-game hitting streak, is back to back Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week and most recently, was selected as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) National Hitter of the Week. He has the second most triples in program history and is also tied for fourth most doubles, chasing the record holder and his head coach
Wes Carroll. Kaczmarski was undrafted last season and has certainly opened some eyes in his historic 2015 season.
UE's next game is at home on Wednesday, April 29 against Oakland City. First pitch is 6:00 p.m. at Braun Stadium. Adult tickets are $7 as senior/youth tickets are just $5.
