Facing USI right-hander Scott Haag, outfielder
Jarod Perry was hit by a pitch with one out in the first inning. It was his program record 42
nd hit by pitch, surpassing Alex Acheson (2007-2010) for most in school history. Perry then stole second and scored on an RBI single from Ramon. The base-hit from Ramon extended his hitting streak to nine consecutive games and gave Evansville the 1-0 lead.
After USI tied the game in the second on an Andrew Cope RBI double, UE reassumed the lead in the bottom of the inning. Showers hit a leadoff home run to left field for the 2-1 advantage. Outfielder
Josh Jyawook increased the lead with a run producing single later in the frame.
Aces right-hander
Ryan Billo maintained the 3-1 lead over the middle innings by retiring nine of the next 10 hitters he faced.
UE extended the two run edge with another three-run inning in the fifth. The Aces sent eight men to the plate, scoring a run on a Showers RBI single to left field and adding on more with a two-run double from designated hitter

Down 6-1, USI got closer with a tally in the sixth inning and another rally in the eighth. Reliever
Ryan Brady encountered trouble in his second inning of work. After the first out, four straight hitters reached, including a bases loaded hit by pitch to Trent Gunn. Righty
Conor Gilligan then came in with the bases loaded and one out, allowing a sacrifice fly and getting a groundout to end the inning.
Leading 6-4, the Aces tacked on a run in the eighth with a sacrifice fly from outfielder

Brent Jurceka held USI scoreless in the ninth to finalize a 7-4 Evansville victory.
Billo (3-1) earned the win, pitching 6.0 innings and allowing two runs on five hits. The loss goes to Hagg, who yielded three runs in 4.0 innings. Jurceka secured his fifth save of the year.

Stewart Nelson set a new career-high with three walks.
UE continues a five game homestand this weekend with a series against #20 Missouri State. The contest on Friday, April 10 is set for 6:00 p.m. CDT. The game on Saturday, April 11 will begin at 2:00 p.m. and the finale on Sunday, April 12 will start at 1:00 p.m.
