EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville Athletics Department is proud to announce that men's soccer player
Nick Schroeder was named a Postgraduate Scholar by the Missouri Valley Conference on Wednesday. The honor is bestowed upon MVC Student Athletes for their exemplary academic and athletic performances. Schroeder will also receive a $5,000 postgraduate scholarship from the Conference.
Schroeder is one of four MVC Student Athletes to earn the recognition including Brooke Brown of UNI (women's basketball), Kalyn Harker of Southern Illinois (softball) and Brogan Austin of Drake (cross country, track & field).
This honor comes just weeks after Schroeder also received a $7,500 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship as well.
Schroeder plans to use the scholarships to pursue a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
A Pre-Physical Therapy major from Brighton, Michigan, Schroeder has a 3.960 GPA. He recorded his first goal as a freshman vs. Indiana. As a sophomore, Schroeder won the inaugural Heritage Federal Credit Union scholarship, was an MVC Scholar Athlete First Team honoree and All-MVC Second Team. Nick has appeared in 58 games, making 25 starts, with eight goals and three assists. Off the field, Schroeder was active in the Evansville community as a mentor, coach and volunteer throughout his four years on campus.
