EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Last weekend, the University of Evansville women's golf team opened its season with Kayla Katterhenry winning the Redbird Invitational.  This weekend, the men take their turn in Normal, Ill. as they head to the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate on Sunday and Monday.

Thirty-six holes and two rounds of play open the action on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. with the final round on Monday slated for an 8:45 a.m. start.  Live stats will be available on Golfstat.com.  Par for the event is a 71 and the yardage is 6,915.  A crowded field joins the Purple Aces in the tournament, including: Bradley, Butler, Central Arkansas, Detroit Mercy, Drake, Eastern Illinois, Illinois State, IPFW, Missouri State, Nebraska, UNI, Oakland, Southern Illinois, SIUE, Texas-Rio Grande Valley and Western Illinois.

Last year, Wil Pahud paced the Aces in his first season of collegiate golf.  He posted a team-low 74.69 stroke average and brought home top five finishes in two of his first four contests last fall.  That included a tie for third place in the 2014 Weibring Intercolegiate with a 1-over 143 in two rounds of action.

As a freshman, Tyler Gray had the #2 average on the squad, finishing the season at 75.08.  A consistent season saw him score a 79 or lower in 25 of his 26 rounds, including a season-low 69 in the Cleveland State Invitational.  His top finish was a tie for 7th in the Butler Fall Invitational.

Will Knights was third on the team with a 75.96 tally.  That effort, which was capped off by a tie for 22nd in the MVC Championship, saw him named a Scholar All-American by Cleveland Golf.  Senior Rick Voyvodic is also coming off of a solid performance last year, recording an average of 76.68.  Also in the mix is Jon Pick, who is a junior from Ottawa, Ontario.

Four freshmen join the squad including: Joseph Addante, Austin Carmack, Noah Reese and Zac Turi.  Carmack, Reese and Turi are natives of the Evansville area and will have the opportunity to make immediate contributions to the squad.
