Opening Day Results

FLOSSMOOR, Ill. – Fresh off of her victory in the Redbird Invitational two weeks ago, University of Evansville junior Kayla Katterhenry leads the pack once again at the Loyola Fall Invitational at Flossmoor Country Club.
 
In Monday's opening two rounds of action, Katterhenry posted two rounds of 74 and checks in with a 148.  She is just one ahead of Southern Illinois' Sun Jung, whose rounds of 74 and 75 have her at a 149.  Rachel Johnson of Chicago State is third with a 150.  The top four are separated by just five strokes.
 
Katterhenry's performance, coupled with that of her teammates, has the Purple Aces sitting in fourth place out of the ten participating teams.  UE is within striking distance of Butler who is in third place.  Evansville has a 639 while Butler stands at 635.  Southern Illinois is on top with a 619 while Chicago State is nine shots back in second.
 
Maggie Camp had a stellar day of action for UE and stands in a tie for 20^th place.  Her rounds of 82 and 80 has her sitting with a 162 after the first day.  One stroke behind is sophomore Giulia Mallmann.  After carding an 83, Mallmann improved by three shots in round two and has a 163.  Next up is freshman Maria Pickens.  In her second collegiate tournament, Pickens posted rounds of 85 and 81 and is tied for 32^nd with a 166.
 
Another freshman, Madison Chaney, recorded a 175 in day one.  Two individuals made the trip for UE with Carly Waggoner and Rachel Marchi playing for the Aces.  Waggoner finished the day with a 170 while Marchi sits with a 183.
 
Tomorrow, the action begins at 8:30 a.m. as Katterhenry looks to remain perfect and the Aces try to move up into the top three.
