EVANSVILLE, Ind. –
The University of Evansville men's soccer team (0-2-0) was defeated 2-1 in double overtime by Air Force (2-0-0) on Friday night in the 2015 ProRehab Aces Classic. After Evansville evened up the match on a goal from senior midfielder Mark Anthony Gonzalez in the 82nd minute, Air Force claimed the match with a 104th minute score.

"There are games when you walk off the field in defeat knowing it was all left on the field," said Evansville head men's soccer coach Marshall Ray. "The guys responded at halftime and picked up our performance. We were the aggressor in the second half and got ourselves back into the game. Credit goes to Air Force tonight on the win."

The Falcons went ahead 1-0 on a 28th minute goal from junior midfielder Tucker Axhoj and maintained the advantage into halftime.

Trailing by a goal, UE tied the match when Gonzalez scored on a cross from senior midfielder Nick Lewis in the 82nd minute. Gonzalez' goal over the top was his second this season and made the score 1-1.

Evansville nearly won the match in regulation but an 89th minute shot from junior forward Tyrus Sciarra went right.

Both teams had opportunities in the first overtime but Axhoj had a shot saved by Aces sophomore goalkeeper Matthew Keller and another go wide left. Freshman forward Mikey Matic also had an opportunity but his 99th minute shot was saved by Falcons goalkeeper John Wendt.

Following a UE foul in double overtime, Axhoj served a free kick to the far side post for Zach Hill to net the game-winner.

Keller recorded six saves in the match. Gonzalez led UE with a goal on three shots.

The ProRehab Aces Classic continues on Sunday, Sept. 6 with Air Force and Drake meeting at 11:00 a.m. and Evansville hosting Belmont at 2:00 p.m. Both matches will be held at Arad McCutchan Stadium.
