Men's Soccer signs pair for 2019

11/20/2018 12:17:00 AM

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Building its roster for next season, the University of Evansville men's soccer team announced the signing of  a pair of incoming freshman for the 2019 campaign.

The incoming pair represent two different states in Louisiana and New Jersey and will look to play in two different roles for the Aces in 2019.

"This is a great start to our 2019 class.  We have a very solid core of players returning next fall, but there are some holes on both sides of the ball," said Aces' men's soccer head coach Marshall Ray. "Ethan and Nkosi have the potential to push our group on and off the field and help us fill those holes. Both come from very competitive youth programs and have been in environments with coaches who have provided them a solid base as they take the next step in their careers.  We are looking forward to welcoming both to Evansville and the north bank of the Ohio next fall."

The first signee for the Aces is attacker/winger Nkosi Graham. A native of Lumberto, N.J., Graham joins Evansville after playing his club soccer for Yardley Makefield Soccer and competing for his high school, Holy Ghost Prep. With Holy Ghost Prep, Graham set a school record with 35 goals as a senior in 2018 to go along with six assists, helping power HGP to a 21-2-1 record and an appearance in the PIAA Class AAA State Quarterfinals. Five times during the 2018 season, Graham recorded a hat trick including a season-high four goals in HGP's 4-2 win over Pheonixville in the state playoffs. Coming to Evansville from New Orleans, La., center back Ethan Garvey is the second signee for the Aces. Garvey joins UE after a decorated prep career, competing for Louisiana Fire Juniors in club competition and playing for Holy Cross High School. Garvey amassed 16 goals and eight assists as a junior for Holy Cross, helping lead his high school to the D-II State Championship, earning first-team all-state and all-district honors in the process. Along with his state and district accolades, Garvey was named all-metro by Nola.com and NewOrleansAdvocate.com. With Louisiana Fire Juniors, Garvey and his side captured the Gulf States Premier League Championship and advanced to the US Club Soccer NPL Finals.
