EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Following a stellar season, University of Evansville men's soccer defender Simon Waever has been named to the 2018 CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District team, it was announced Thursday.
The Holte, Denmark native shined on the field, recording a team-high seven assists, while also continuing to accel in the classroom. A management major, Waever holds a 4.00 GPA and was named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete team in 2017 and has also garnered the Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award in 2018. In his career with the Aces, Waever has amassed 11 assists, adding a pair of goals, while playing in 59 games, making 54 starts.
Waever appears on the academic all-district team along with six other men's soccer student-athletes from the Missouri Valley Conference. With the honor, Waever will now be eligible for the Academic All-America ballot.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the position listed on the nomination form (where applicable).
