Cape Girardeau, Mo. - After a strong spring campaign, the University of Evansville men's golf team heads into the 2018 Missouri Valley Conference Championship on Monday and Tuesday at Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
The Championship opens Monday with a pair of 18 hole rounds before concluding with the final round on Tuesday. The par-72 Jack Nicklaus-designed course situated on the banks of the Mississippi River plays host to the nine MVC teams this weekend.

In the pre-championship coaches poll, the Purple Aces were picked seventh, garnering 27 total points in the poll. Illinois State was selected as the favorite to capture the 2018 MVC Championship, earning 81 total points and all nine first-place votes. Just 12 points behind the Redbirds was Southern Illinois who was picked to finish second with 69 total points.
Evansville enters the championship with the sixth-best score average as a team as the Aces have averaged 299.82 strokes per round this season. Purple Aces' senior Tyler Gray looks to battle for the individual medal at the tournament as Gray enters the weekend in the top five in The Valley in stroke average. In 27 rounds this season, Gray is averaging an 18-hole score of 72.67, placing the senior in fourth in stroke average in the conference. Evansville also boasts three other golfers who sit in the top 40 in the MVC in stroke average with junior Noah Reese (75.46), sophomore Matthew Ladd (75.68), and freshman Spencer Wagner (76.64) all garnering spots inside the top 40.
